But we thought it would be fun to include a few activities to enjoy between lunch and dinner!

Skyline Drive

Front Royal is the northern gateway to Shenandoah National Park, home to Skyline Drive. Enjoy stunning views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, go hiking, have a picnic, or simply enjoy the scenic drive. Not sure where to eat? Soul Mountain Restaurant is just a few minutes off of Skyline Drive. This casual spot is known for a creative lineup of BBQ & soul food in a wood-lined storefront space. Castiglia’s Italian Restaurant is also nearby. This Italian spot is known for its pizza and pasta. It’s casual enough that you can still stop in after a day of hiking.

Downtown Front Royal

Take a stroll through downtown Front Royal and explore its shops, galleries, and restaurants. The historic district features charming architecture and local businesses. We recommend grabbing Indian Food at Khukuri Nepali Cuisine or enjoying some tacos at Los Potrillos. And if you’re craving something sweet, don’t miss Down Home Comfort Bakery!

Skyline Caverns

Explore the underground wonders of Skyline Caverns, located just south of Front Royal. Guided tours take visitors through beautiful cavern formations, including unique features like anthodites. Snacks, drinks, ice cream, and candy are available for purchase at the Caverns Gift Shop, but they don’t have a restaurant. They do have picnic areas so we recommend grabbing a treat and enjoying it at a picnic table!

Glen Manor Vineyards

Enjoy wine tasting and beautiful views at Glen Manor Vineyards, located just outside of Front Royal. Sample their award-winning wines and learn about the winemaking process during a vineyard tour.  The farm is recognized by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Century Farm for being owned and farmed by five generations of their family for over 121 years.
