Celebrate Wine Week with the Monticello Wine Trail

Charlottesville was recently named Wine Enthusiast’s 2023 Wine Region of the Year, recognizing the exceptional wines within the Monticello American Viticultural Area (AVA). With over 40 wineries in Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Orange, and Nelson counties, this incredible award highlights our region’s unique terroir, passionate winemakers, and incredible wines.

To celebrate this exciting achievement, the Monticello Wine Trail is hosting Wine Week with an incredible lineup of events. This is a great opportunity to taste wines from various wineries, take in the gorgeous scenery, and meet some of the talented winemakers behind the bottle.

Here’s a line up of the exciting events coming up!

• Friday 4/26 – Gold Medal Celebration at The Wool Factory – Be there for the announcement of the Monticello Cup, and sample the gold medal-winning wines of the region! You’ll also get to taste treats from celebrity chef Tucker Yoder.
• Saturday 4/27 – Rosé Picnic at Trump Winery – Taste a lineup of top-notch rosé wines while enjoying a stocked picnic box filled with treats that pair wonderfully with rosé!
• Saturday 4/27 – Rosé Sunset Sights at Hazy Mountain Vineyards – Enjoy the sunset and gorgeous mountain views while sipping on a glass of rosé wine from the top vineyards along the Monticello AVA.
• Sunday 4/28 – Sparkling Brunch at Mount Ida Farm and Vineyard – Start your week off with a delicious brunch spread and plenty of bubbly from a variety of wineries!
• Monday 4/28 – Golf Tournament & Winemaker’s Reception at Keswick Hall – Golfers can enjoy a day of play at the award-winning Full Cry course. That evening, there will be a reception at Keswick Hall with wine tasting and a chance to chat with local winemakers. You’ll also enjoy plenty of delicious food!
• Wednesday 5/1 – White Wine Showcase at Eastwood Farm & Winery – From buttery Chardonnay to fragrant Viognier, this is a chance to enjoy the best white wine varieties in the region.
• Thursday 5/2 – Red Wine Showcase at Barboursville Vineyards – If reds are your thing, don’t miss the chance to taste some of the best from around the Monticello AVA!
• Friday 5/3 – Wine Week Wine Down – Wrap up the week with one final celebration! Enjoy tasty food from Veritas’ own Executive Chef, Andy Shipman, and a variety of wines from the region.
