The best Rooftop Restaurants in Richmond, VA
Last Updated on June 26, 2026 by Liz Thomson
There’s no better way to spend a Richmond evening than with a drink in hand and the skyline stretched out in front of you. Our rooftop scene keeps growing, with spots tucked all over the city, from Scott’s Addition and Carytown to downtown and the Fan, so there’s a vibe for every kind of night out. Here are our favorite rooftop restaurants and bars in Richmond right now, including a couple of brand new additions for 2026.

New York Deli
This iconic Carytown spot has one of the most fun rooftops in the city. The Rockaway Beach themed rooftop at New York Deli recently got a major upgrade, including a new stairway entrance from inside the deli. There’s plenty of shade for hot afternoons and a few fire pits for when the temperatures drop. Grab a frozen drink and settle in. This is a must-visit. I highly recommend getting the tabletop s’mores platter! (I did it with my son and he had a blast!)
Address: 2920 W Cary St, Richmond, VA 23221
Byrd House
Perched on top of the Graduate by Hilton Richmond (you might remember it as the Graduate Richmond before the Hilton rebrand), Byrd House sits on the 16th floor and offers 360 degree views of the city. It has a classy feel, but it’s still a casual spot to meet up with friends, and you do not need to be a hotel guest to come up. One heads up: the rooftop pool has been closed recently, so call ahead if that’s your main reason for going.
Address: 301 W Franklin St, Richmond, VA 23220
Q Rooftop Bar
Located on top of the Quirk Hotel, the Q Rooftop Bar provides panoramic views of downtown Richmond. This popular spot can get busy, especially during the summertime. Grab a glass of rosè or enjoy a cocktail. They also offer food (mainly the Mayor Meats sausage) and small plates.
Address: 201 W Broad St, Richmond, VA 23220
The Pit & The Peel
Looking for a rooftop without a bar? Trying to find a spot to visit earlier in the day? Try The Pit and the Peel! Their VCU location has a charming rooftop, the perfect spot to sip a specialty coffee or dig into a smoothie bowl. They also serve cocktails, beer, and wine up top in the afternoon if you do want a drink.
Addresses:
VCU: 1210 W Main St, Richmond, VA 23220 (They also have a location at the James Center and Westhampton, but those don’t have rooftops!)
Twin Hickory Tavern
If you want a rooftop view without heading into the city, Twin Hickory Tavern at Regency is a great West End pick. It took over the former Sloop John B space and added a covered rooftop, called The Nest, with live music and a rooftop concert series all season long. The menu leans into gourmet burgers, hand battered chicken sandwiches, tacos, and a popular weekend brunch. They have two locations, but the one at Regency is the one with the rooftop!
Address: 1420 N Parham Rd Suite M226, Henrico, VA 23229 (At Regency Shopping Mall)

303 West Broad
*Disclaimer* You do have to be a member to get into 303 West Broad (Formerly known as Common House). so this isn’t an option for everyone, but if you can find a friend who is a member, this is an incredible rooftop. Great views, a nice little pool, and some of the best cocktails around Richmond.
Address: 303 W Broad St, Richmond, VA 23220
Juan’s Rooftop and Cantina
Juan’s Rooftop and Cantina has a large rooftop. (Obviously.) They actually have a few locations across the state but the one in downtown Richmond is the only one with a rooftop. Enjoy tasty tacos, delicious margaritas, all while taking in the views of downtown.
Address: 11 W Broad St, Richmond, VA 23220
The Hof Garden
Situated in Scott’s Addition, The Hof Garden is a popular casual spot. It’s part of the historic Hofheimer Building and often features live music. The restaurant has an extensive beer menu as well as cocktails and wine.
Address: 2818 W Broad St, Richmond, VA 23230
Havana 59
This Cuban-inspired rooftop restaurant’s ambiance transports you to 1950s Havana. It offers authentic Cuban food and cigars. Havana 59 was one of the first rooftop spots in Richmond, and it’s still a popular venue, especially for salsa dancing.
Address: 16 N 17th St, Richmond, VA 23219

Starr Hill Beer Hall & Rooftop
Another great spot in Scott’s Addition, Starr Hill Beer Hall & Rooftop, is perfect for beer lovers. They don’t serve food but you’re allowed to bring your own and they frequently have food trucks on-site that offer plenty of options. I love that they also have a few non-alcoholic beers on their menu.
Address: 3406 W Leigh St, Richmond, VA 23230
