We Tried OPA! Social, Libbie Mill’s New Greek and Italian Restaurant

Last Updated on November 7, 2026 by Liz Thomson

OPA! Social just opened at Libbie Mill, and we went on the very first day. It’s in the old Crafted space, and it’s a Greek, Italian, and American spot with a much bigger menu than I expected. Two of us shared an appetizer, a salad, and an entree, and the bill came to $53 with tax and tip. Here’s how it went.

Where is OPA! Social?

OPA! Social is at 4900 Libbie Mill E. Blvd, in the spot Crafted used to be. I went to Crafted once and had totally forgotten how big this space is. It feels a lot roomier than I remembered.

The restaurant comes from Marianne Trak Hess and Eric Hess, who also ran Lola’s Farmhouse Bistro. Marianne grew up in her family’s restaurant, Trak’s Greek & Italian, and her family still owns The Grapevine on Three Chopt Road. So if you’ve been eating Greek and Italian food in Richmond for a while, the name will probably ring a bell. Libbie Mill doesn’t have a ton of restaurants, which still surprises me, so it was nice to see a new option coming in!

The space

I really like what they did with the interior. The design is unique and a little unexpected, but it’s so pretty. There’s a big bar, a really large table that I’m guessing is a community table, and lots of smaller tables spread through the dining room. It would work for a date night, a group dinner, or just grabbing a drink at the bar.

The Opa! Social menu

The menu is big. Way bigger than we were expecting! It’s a mix of Greek, Italian, and American food with appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, pastas, and entrees. There’s a long list of appetizers, too. I also think I missed a whole back page because I didn’t realize how big the menu was, so flip yours over when you go.

We didn’t order drinks this time, but we saw plenty of wine and cocktails going out to other tables.

What we ordered

Bruschetta

We started with the bruschetta, and it was really nice. It came on what I think was toasted focaccia. Bruschetta bread is often too flimsy and falls apart under the tomatoes, or it’s so tough you can barely bite through it. This was perfectly crispy and still light, but sturdy enough to hold a big pile of tomatoes and red onion. A drizzle of balsamic glaze on top finished it off.

Horiatiki salad

Next we got the horiatiki salad, which is a Greek salad with no lettuce, so it’s all the good stuff: tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, chickpeas and lots of crumbled feta. If you like crunchy salads, you’ll love this one. It came with a big side of dressing, but we only used about a quarter of it. The salad really didn’t need more than that.

Stuffed shells

For our entree, we shared the stuffed shells. They’re filled with a really creamy ricotta and baked with marinara and melted cheese in a little clay dish. It’s a simple dish, but it was good. The portion isn’t huge, but with the bruschetta and salad it was plenty of food for the two of us.

How much does OPA! Social cost?

I thought the prices were really reasonable. Our bruschetta, salad and stuffed shells came to $53 total with tax and tip, for two people. That doesn’t include drinks, but it’s still a great deal for a sit-down dinner, especially at Libbie Mill.

Opening day service

Since we went on the very first day, our food took a little while to come out. That’s completely expected on day one, and I’m not holding it against them at all. Give any new restaurant a few weeks to find its rhythm. If you go soon after opening, just plan for a relaxed meal instead of a quick one. Everyone we met was incredibly friendly and kind.

Is OPA! Social worth it?

Yes! The space is pretty, the menu has something for everyone, and the prices are good. My favorite bite was the stuffed shells, and I’d go back just to work through the rest of that huge menu (back page included). It’s a welcome addition to Libbie Mill!
