Broadway Farmers Market

The Broadway Farmers Market provides fresh, quality, local food and agricultural products from producers in Rockingham County to residents and visitors. Vendors at the Farmers Market must grow, produce or hand-make their items within a 50 mile radius of Broadway, Virginia.

“We love the bountiful crops, diversity of people, definitive seasons and the absolute beauty of the landscape in Virginia.”

Started in 2001 by the Broadway Hometown Partnership to encourage traffic with all Main Street businesses, the market currently thrives at it’s newest location at 161 Main Street, boasting 20-plus vendors and an average of 200 customers each Saturday during the growing season.

Since seasonal is the nature of Virginia, it is also the nature of this market. They do not re-sell items from outside their county, and their vendors do not typically grow from greenhouses. This way, you can be assured the produce you will find at the market is the epitome of fresh–grown, and picked for you the night before or morning of sale.

Visitors to Broadway Farmers Market can enjoy a hot fresh donut made to order, fresh coffee, a grilled specialty pizza (try the Broadway Steak and Cheese!) or whatever the Foodiexperimint developed in their lab this week. Shoppers can find local produce stands, the best peaches and apples in Rockingham County, custom woodworking, soy candles, hostas, daylilies, cut bouquets, artisan breads, gluten-free options, gourmet pickles, jams, and jellies.

Because the market believes in supporting local growers, providing a quality product to consumers, and supporting sustainable agriculture and downtown revitalization, they are host to many special events each season, such as Market Kids Day, Dog Days, the Firemans’ Chilli Cookoff and the Holiday Market.
