Local Farms Offer Pumpkin-Filled Fun

From hayrides to apple cider, petting zoos to punkin’ chunkin’, bonfires to face painting; a day at the local pumpkin patch is a memory to cherish forever. We’ve put together a list of family farms around the state that offer all the pumpkin-filled fun you can handle. So get exploring!

  • Layman Family Farms – An 83-acre farm in Blue Ridge with a 10-acre corn maze, pumpkin picking, and full concessions. Open in October, Saturdays, 10 am – 6 pm and Sundays, 11 am – 6 pm and November 5th, 10 am – 5 pm.

  • Kim’s Crazy Corn Maze – Hay rides, pumpkin picking, and overall family fun in Castlewood, VA. Open in October Friday – Sunday.

  • The Crab Orchard Corn Maze & Pisgah Pumpkin Patch – Already-picked pumpkins, wagon rides, Punkin’ Chunkin’, and a corn maze. Open September 16 – October 30 in Tazewell, VA.

  • Fitzgerald Farms – Nelson, VA. Pick-your-own pumpkins and pre-picked jack-o-lantern pumpkins, gourds, and heirloom pumpkins. Take fun fall photos near the LOVE sign or the pumpkin patch. Open Thursday & Friday, 3 pm – 7 pm, and Saturdays, 10 am – 7 pm in October.

  • Lloyd Family Farms – Rockville, VA. Family-owned farm with a corn maze, pony rides, farm animals, hay rides, food trucks, PYO pumpkins, and Fall mums. Open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, 9 am – 5 pm

  • Gallmeyer Farms – Richmond, VA. A low-key “on the farm” family experience with plenty of activities, including hayrides, spooky house tours, and a straw bale maze. Pick your own pumpkins or choose from a selection of pre-picked pumpkins, fall veggies, fall décor, gourds, and specialty pumpkins. Open until October 31.

  • Yoder’s Farm – Rustburg, VA. Test your skills in the corn maze using the corn maze app for a chance to get on the leaderboard. Fall activities include hayrides and a pumpkin patch. Grab a bite at the Snack Shack and visit The Farm Store. Fall hours until November 5.

  • Belmont Pumpkin Farm – North, VA. Family-owned since 1983. Pick-your-own pumpkins, corn and sunflower mazes, farm animals, ‘famous pulled pork BBQ and pumpkin desserts.’ Pumpkin funnel cakes, pumpkin rolls, BBQ, the mazes, treasure hunts, hayrides, and more. Open in October, Fridays, 3 pm – 7pm, and Saturday and Sunday, 10 am – 6 pm.

  • Hickory Ridge Farm – Chesapeake, VA. U-Pick pumpkins, hay bales and corn stalks for fall decorating. An 18 acre working family-owned farm that grows their own pumpkins. Activities include hayrides, barrel train, play area and pony rides. The Farm’s Coffee Truck and fresh fall goodies are available on-site. Pumpkin patch open Sep. 15-Oct 31th.

  • Yankey Farms – Nokesville, VA. Search through thousands of pumpkins in a wide variety of colors and shapes and pick them right where they grow., get lost in the corn maze scavenger hunt and ride around the farm on the cow train and visit with the farm animals. Open all week until October 31.

  • Wayside Fun Farm – Berryville, VA. Wayside Farm Fun has a 10-acre corn maze, pumpkin patches, farm animals (even a goat walk), pumpkin smashing, and many more fun fall activities. Open Thursday – Sunday until October 31.

  • Round Hill Farm – Culpeper, VA. Tractor hayrides, pick-your-own pumpkins, petting zoo, hay bale mazes, pony rides, picnics, face painting, and more. Open until October 30.

  • Hill High Farm Pumpkin Patch – Winchester, VA. Corn mazes, daytime & moonlit hay rides, haunted house, petting zoo, straw maze. September 22th-November 1st.

  • Mulberry Hills Farm – Mt. Crawford, VA. Enjoy the friendly farm animals and hayrides. Choose from a variety of pre-picked or pick-your-own pumpkins and gourds, mums, straw bales, and corn shocks. Take a fun fall picture in the variety of picture boards. Open daily, hayrides and barn open only on the weekends.

  • Liberty Mills Farm – Somerset, VA. Located in Orange County, the farm is easily reached from Charlottesville, Culpeper, Richmond, and all points in between, and just 90 miles southwest of Washington, DC Enjoy panoramic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, a Fall Corn Maze, Pick Your Own Pumpkin Patch. Saturdays, 10 am – 10 pm. Sundays, 11 am – 6 pm.
