This scrumptious pizza recipe is provided to us by fellow Virginia foodie, Kelliann. Utilizing fresh, local summer ingredients this pie is customizable to whatever seasonal veggies you like best. 

This ain’t your Grandma’s recipe! This unique holiday pie features red wine, pears and cranberries. Spices like star anise, cloves, ginger, cinnamon and orange zest gives it a kick and a distinct flavor profile. If you’re a baking extraordinaire like Arley is, feel free to gussy up the pie crust by creating a lattice pattern and cutting out some seasonal shapes from leftover dough, and if you’re not, well, that’s okay too. Virginia Distillery Company has been nominated in USA Today’s 2022 10 Best Readers’ Choice travel awards for Best Craft Whiskey Distillery for the third consecutive year. The contest allows the public to vote for their favorite distillery once a day until Monday, September 26. A panel of American spirits experts selected Virginia Distillery Company and 19 other distilleries for the contest.

The Roanoke Foodshed Network (RFN), formerly known as the Roanoke Regional Food System Partnership, is granting more than $18,000 to area nonprofits and schools to support food access work in the Roanoke region. The following organizations received funding: Virginia Cooperative Extension, One Valley Inc., Feeding Southwest Virginia, Highland Park Elementary School, Lick Run Community Development Corporation, Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Virginia, and Cave Spring Elementary School PTA.
