Traveling along I-95 in Virginia? You’re in luck! Virginia offers a range of fantastic dining spots, all conveniently located for you to take advantage of. Whether on a road trip or just passing through, there’s no need to venture far from the highway for a satisfying meal. From comfort food to family-friendly venues, a wide range of top restaurants along I-95,  ordered from north to south, promise lots of great food. I-95 can be boring, but your food choices don’t have to be!

Galae Thai (Alexandria – Exit 176)

Galae Thai is located in the Hoffman Town Center and minutes from I-95. It is a local spot known for its authentic and flavorful Thai cuisine. Galae Thai offers a diverse menu with favorites like Drunken Noodles with Shrimp, Pineapple Fried Rice, Mango Sticky Rice, and Green Curry. 

They use fresh ingredients and authentic spices to create dishes that reflect Thailand’s rich culinary heritage. The restaurant has an elegant atmosphere and a bar area, ideal for casual meals and special occasions.

Mike’s American Grill (Springfield – Exit 169)

Mike’s American Grill in Springfield is a two-level spot loved for its hearty American fare and welcoming atmosphere. Whether craving a juicy steak, fresh seafood, or a crisp salad, Mike’s has you covered. 

They also offer an excellent children’s menu with options like grilled cheese, mac n cheese, hamburgers, and chicken fingers, making it a perfect stop for families.

Mike’s is a quick stop off I-95, with several hotels nearby. If you’re tired from your drive, you can order online and bring it back to your room. 

Know Before You Go: While the restaurant is spacious, weekends can get busy, and reservations are recommended. Also, during busy times, you may have to park in the strip mall across the street.

Family-owned Antonelli’s Pizza hits the spot when your Italian craving comes knocking. It’s a no-brainer: they serve fantastic pizza, but you don’t want to miss their calzones and strombolis. Everything is always cooked to perfection with the perfect texture and flavor. 

In addition to the delicious food, the staff goes above and beyond. One customer bragged about the owners who gave him a ride back to his hotel because it was raining.

Two Brothers Chicken (Woodbridge – Exit 156)

Next on the list is Two Brothers Chicken in Woodbridge, a no-frills spot a short drive from I-95. Two Brothers Chicken offers a range of delicious chicken dishes as well as loaded cheese fries, subs, fish sandwiches, pizza, and grass-fed burgers, including the Mighty Moe, a burger complete with lettuce, grilled onions, Moe sauce, and cheese. 

While they have seating inside, it’s limited, so keep that in mind before you pop in.

  • Affordable prices make it an excellent stop for families.

Giorgio’s Family Restaurant (Dumfries – Exit 152B)

Located in Dumfries, Giorgio’s Family Restaurant offers a warm, family-friendly environment with a menu full of Italian favorites and classic American dishes. Don’t judge a book by its cover! 

While the outside is unassuming, Giorgio’s makes up for it with its food, which includes Mediterranean Pasta, Greek-style pork Chops, a Gyro Platter, and Athenian Chicken. 

Inside the restaurant, they also opened a full-service wine shop and wine bar, WineStyles of Montclair. They offer various wines from around the world! 

Finally, while it’s not always available, order the smoked brisket, if possible!

Situated in Fredericksburg, Park Lane Tavern brings a taste of Europe to the Spotsylvania Towne Centre. This pub-style restaurant offers a wide variety of European dishes and an impressive selection of beers and cocktails, if you don’t have a drive ahead of you. 

Favorite meals include the Bacon Stuffed Gouda Burger, Banger Deluxe Pizza, their Signature Fish & Chips, and Shepherd’s Pie. They also have a gluten-free and brunch menu. 

The portions are generous at Park Lane Tavern, so if you’re not starving, you may consider sharing. However, if possible, save room for the homemade Jameson Irish Whiskey Bread Pudding.

Caboose Market & Cafe is a delightful eatery that offers farm-to-table dining, focusing on fresh, local ingredients. It’s an ideal stop for a healthy and delicious meal, from hearty breakfasts to delectable lunches and dinners. Located on the railroad tracks of historic Ashland, the Caboose Market & Cafe has served customers since 1997. Favorite menu items include the Wam! Bam! Thank you, Ham Sandwich, Wagu Hot Dog, and the Crispy Chicken Breast Sandwich. I’ve also been really impressed with the amount of vegetarian options on the menu!

They also have a wine and beer shop on site so you can grab something to go. For special events and deals, check out their Instagram

Buz and Ned’s Real Barbecue (Richmond – Exit 78)

For barbecue lovers, Buz and Ned’s Real Barbecue is a must-visit. Established by Buz Grossberg, this restaurant has earned a reputation for its slow-cooked meats, including succulent ribs, tender pulled pork, and flavorful beef brisket, all prepared using traditional smoking techniques. 

The menu also features a variety of classic sides like baked beans, coleslaw, and cornbread, complementing the rich, smoky flavors of the meats.

While Buz and Ned’s can get busy, the ample space makes it easy to find a place to sit.

Established by Mama J herself, Velma Johnson, this family-run restaurant is renowned for its soul food classics, such as fried chicken, catfish, candied yams, mac and cheese, and collard greens. 

It’s a great place to enjoy comfort food made on-site and fresh daily. If you have room for dessert, try the Pineapple Coconut Cake or the Peach Cobbler. You can always ask for it to go!

Trapezium Brewing Company (Petersburg – Exit 52)

Trapezium Brewing Company is a must-visit if you’re a craft beer fan. Housed in a historic building with a distinctive trapezium-shaped roof, the brewery offers a wide range of unique beers and a tasty menu of pizzas and snacks.  (Their Lemon Honey Ginger beer is one of my all time favorites!)

While the food menu is limited, their various pizza options make up for it. One of the best parts of Trapezium is its outside seating area, which is the perfect spot to enjoy a cold beer on a hot night.

  • Delicious wood-fired pizzas.
  • Creative craft beers brewed on-site.
  • Special events, including trivia night.
  • Large patio and expansive brick interior.

Val’s New York Pizza (Emporia – Exit 11A)

Head to family-owned Val’s New York Pizza for an authentic New York-style pizza experience. This local favorite serves up classic thin-crust pies and hearty Italian-American dishes reminiscent of the traditional flavors found in New York City. 

Popular pizzas include Philly Chicken Pie, Val’s Meatball, BBQ Chicken, and Greek. They also have a great children’s menu with choices like chicken tenders, spaghetti and meatballs, and boneless wings. 

In addition to pizza, Val’s offers a range of Italian dishes, subs, salads, and appetizers. It is praised for its friendly service, cozy atmosphere, and affordable prices. You can’t beat that!
