The Cutest Candy Shop in Richmond
Last Updated on July 14, 2026 by Liz Thomson
Richmond has a new candy shop, and it’s SO cute! Trolley Car Sweets and Treats just opened at 407 Strawberry St. in the Fan, in the former Idle Hands space. (Don’t worry, Idle Hands just moved over to Robinson St.)

It’s a pick-and-mix style shop, so you grab a bag and fill it up with whatever you want. But the candy itself is a step up from what you’re probably used to. Most of it comes straight from Sweden, Scandinavia, and Europe, made with real fruit flavors and natural colors, so it’s not your typical grocery store candy. They’ve got everything from soft marshmallows to sour candy, and every bin is labeled with ingredients and allergens. There are vegan and gluten-free options too!

I filled a bag with sweet candy and a bag with sour candy. You pay by the ounce ($1.25 an ounce, or $20 a pound), so I wasn’t sure how much I’d spend, but it ended up being cheaper than I expected. Next time, I’m buying more! The passion fruit mix is 10/10.

Fun fact: the name is a nod to Richmond having the first successful electric trolley system, which is such a sweet local touch. And keep an eye on this spot, because I’ve heard coffee and espresso drinks are in the works! I can’t wait to take my kiddo here for a fun afternoon adventure.
