Virginia Wine Governor’s Cup 2023 Awards

The 2023 Virginia Governor’s Cup® awards have been revealed! The Virginia Governor’s Cup is one of the most stringent competitions in the United States. The awards and ceremonies are hosted by the Virginia Wineries Association in partnership with the Virginia Wine Board and the Virginia Vineyards Association. Each year, world-class judges sample the best of Virginia to award medals and select the Governor’s Cup Case, Best in Show Cider, and Governor’s Cup winner.

The top-scoring wines that make up the Governor’s Cup Case include: 

  • 50 West Vineyards, 2020 Petit Manseng

  • Barboursville Vineyards, 2021 Vermentino Reserve

  • Barren Ridge Vineyards, 2019 Petit Verdot

  • Delfosse Vineyards and Winery, 2021 Screaming Hawk Meritage

  • Jefferson Vineyards, 2021 Petit Manseng

  • Jefferson Vineyards, 2019 Meritage

  • Mountain Run Winery, 2021 Petit Verdot

  • Paradise Springs Winery, 2021 Petit Verdot

  • Pollak Vineyards, 2017 Meritage

  • The Williamsburg Winery, 2019 Petit Verdot

  • Trump Winery, 2016 Blanc de Noir

  • Trump Winery, 2019 New World Reserve

The biggest award, the Virginia Governor’s Cup, went to Delfosse Vineyards and Winery for their 2021 Screaming Hawk Meritage. For the second year in a row, Albemarle CiderWorks took home the Best in Show Cider award for the 2021 Orchard Blush.
