Pizza Bones: Sourdough Crust & Seriously Good Pizza in Richmond

Whenever I hear about a pizza spot in Richmond, I have to check it out. So when I kept hearing about Pizza Bones and their sourdough crust, I knew it was time for a visit. Alex and I stopped in for dinner recently, and let me just say—this place delivers. (Literally, and figuratively, although the delivery range is a bit small.)

The Pizza

The menu rotates daily, but we lucked out with a special: Cacio e Pepe pizza. If you’re a fan of that classic pasta dish, imagine it in pizza form—cheesy, peppery, and loaded with flavor. We also went for a classic cheese pizza because sometimes, simple is best. Both had that perfectly chewy, slightly tangy sourdough crust that sets Pizza Bones apart from other pizza joints in Virginia.

To round things out, we grabbed an order of their pickled vegetables—carrots were the veggie of the day—and a couple of Hike hopped seltzers, which are made right here in Richmond. (If you haven’t tried these yet, add them to your must-drink list.)

The Vibe

Pizza Bones has both indoor and outdoor seating—it’s not huge, but there are a handful of tables inside and a few more outside. If you’re just looking for a drink, there’s also a bar on the other side of the building, which would be such a fun spot to meet a friend for a casual drink.

The Experience

Service? Friendly and fast.
Prices? We got all of this for $58.44 and we had an entire pizza leftover. (So note for next time, we’d easily be able to share one pizza.)
Portions? Generous enough that we had lots leftovers to take home.

If you love sourdough and brick-oven pizza, this spot is a must-visit. Next time you’re in Richmond and craving a good slice, check out Pizza Bones—you won’t regret it.
