Petit Four: Richmond’s Newest Bakery

If you love supporting small, local spots and you’ve got a thing for freshly baked bread and creative weekend treats, Petit Four needs to be on your radar. This little bakeshop is the newest concept from the Grisette restaurant family, and it’s quietly cranking out some of the best baked goods in town.

Petit Four is only open Saturdays and Sundays from 9 AM until noon—or until they sell out (which happens fast!). It’s tucked away on the Lombardy Street side of the Jardin patio, just across from Small Friends.

Here’s what we tried:

Peach & Heirloom Tomato Flatbread

This was an absolute 10/10. The thin, chewy crust had perfectly crispy edges and was topped with delicate slices of sweet peach and heirloom tomato. A drizzle of hot honey tied it all together with just the right amount of heat. I took this with me to a winery, and it was the perfect little snack.

Sea Salt Focaccia

If you’ve got a soft spot for focaccia (hey, that’s me), don’t skip this. The texture was spot-on: airy inside with a golden, crunchy crust, with a sprinkling of flaky sea salt. We also took this one to a winery picnic later that day, and it paired beautifully with some manchego and a glass of white.

Everything Bagel Pretzel Twist

The pretzel twist had a generous coating of everything bagel seasoning and came with a side of sharp mustard for dipping. It was salty, chewy, and addictive. We almost went back to try the cinnamon sugar version for something sweet, and I’m kicking myself for not grabbing a second!

Pro tip: if the weather’s nice, the Jardin patio is open when the bakery is open and it’s the perfect spot to enjoy your pastry haul.
